Bedford trucks and fire fighting vehicles gained their greatest renown during and after World War II with such legendary vehicles as the "Green Goddess". However, Bedford was also quite formiddable throughout the 1930s, providing a British equivalent to Chevrolet's line of trucks. Indeed, the first truck offered in 1931 was nearly identical to the Chevrolet bonneted 2-tonner. During the rest of the decade. however, Bedford trucks began to become more readily distinguishable from their American ancestors. In 1938, the legendary bull-nose Bedfords appeared with a "W-type" cab. In 1939, Bedford introduced its famous "OB" which was to become a standard of British trucking up to 1948. It is the 1939 Bedford cab "pumper" that is recreated in your extraordinary 1:43 scale die-cast model. Representing the beginnings of Bedford's notable fire-fighting tradition, the 1939 Bedford cab "pumper" is crafted in authentic detail by Matchbox - the greatest name in die-cast.
